POLICE STATE 101

So today I went to a Regional Mass Protest in L.A. in defense of GAZA and the humanitarian war crimes they are facing from the Israeli occupation. There were thousands of protestors in attendance and while I was looking for parking near the Federal Building on Wilshire Boulevard in Santa Monica, I had noticed a line of Homeland Security vehicles, and I decided I wanted to snap a few cell phone pictures of them. After I eventually found parking and I was making my way towards the protest, I went and took three pictures of the Homeland Security symbols on the truck. While walking back towards the rally, a female Sheriff named, what I think was Funes, came up to me and asked for my identification and what I was doing. I asked why I was being stopped and that I don’t need to tell her anything, that I know my rights. The next thing I knew there were 5 more Sheriffs surrounding me. At that point Funes put my arms behind my back and I thought I was about to be cuffed. Instead she interlocked my fingers and proceeded to pat me down, while I was encircled by 5 other sheriffs. I kept saying that I didn’t do anything wrong and that they were violating my rights. One sheriff was going through my wallet, looking for Identification, meanwhile my ID is clearly visible in an ID window inside the wallet. I said why are you going through my wallet? Another sheriff had my cell phone, the one I used to take the pictures and while I was being searched he went through my phone and deleted the three pictures I had taken, without letting me know that he was illegally going through my private property deleting said photos. I was asked if I had weapons, I answered NO and then said it is you that have the weapons, not me. I said this is a complete violation of my rights and that I should not be detained. Then they told me I was free to go, and I asked them why was I detained to begin with? They basically admitted I was profiled under “terrorist” suspicions, because little did I know taking pictures of a Homeland Security vehicle is now considered an act of “terrorism”, according to them. After they let me go, the first thing I thought was, well at least I have the pictures on my phone. But to my disbelief I saw that my photos have been deleted from my phone. I immediately thought how bad my rights, my privacy and my private property had been violated by these six L.A. Sheriffs. When they decided to detain me, they didn’t realize that I am one of the informed people, that I am aware of the Police State and that I am against it. They didn’t realize they picked on the wrong guy this time. I am not going to lie down and be executed by the PIGS. I am going to fight this. I am going to get a lawyer; I am going to get this story out in as many places as I can. I am going to let them know they do not have the authority to violate our rights, to invade our privacy and to violate our private property.
